Burj Khalifa: which ticket should you buy?

Choosing between Burj Khalifa tickets confuses almost every visitor. There are two observation decks and several time slots — here is how to pick the right one without overpaying.
The Burj Khalifa has two observation levels: At the Top on levels 124 and 125, and At the Top SKY on level 148, the higher of the two.
For most travellers, the lower deck is enough. The view is already extraordinary at 456 metres, and the SKY premium buys you roughly 90 extra metres, a lounge with refreshments and a shorter queue — nice, but not essential for a first visit.
Time your slot carefully. Prime time (sunset) is roughly double the price of a morning ticket, and the queues are longest. Our favourite is the late afternoon, roughly ninety minutes before sunset: you catch the daylight, the golden hour, and the start of the city lighting up without the peak pricing.
Book online, in advance, and pick a timed entry. Walk-up tickets exist at the counter, but the most popular slots sell out, and you pay a premium on the door. In peak season, sunset slots can sell out a week ahead.
If you are visiting between November and March, aim for a weekday — weekend sunset slots can mean a 45-minute wait even with a timed ticket. And keep your evening free afterwards: the fountain show below runs every thirty minutes and pairs perfectly with the visit.
